Incoming from the deepest darkest depths… it's Denver-native Sling Wave. Spearheading a new wave of producers, Sling Wave is one of the most exciting production talents we have come across and Jabber Jaws, his debut EP on Deep, Dark & Dangerous demonstrates exactly why. These beats have been some of the heavy hitters in many sets over the last year. With support from the likes of Ternion Sound, Truth, ENiGMA Dubz, Bommer, Deep Tempo, Wraz and Substance among others! Title track Jabber Jaws lives up to it's name with razor sharp midbass ready to slice and dice with the utmost swagger, meanwhile Marrow is a straight up stomper, full of energy, absolutely no nonsense: large bass, crispy mids, punchy drums. Yeuk is where things get really crazy, paranoid stabs overlay machine-gun bass with SERIOUS sub punching through the mix. Hotwheel, pairs super crispy percussive elements, with extremely deep bass for a total audio treat. Overall this is a very rounded release, which is the perfect debut for Sling Wave on DDD. Mark our words, you'll be seeing a lot more of Sling Wave in 2024 and beyond.

Exploding like a tsunami from the depths of the ocean, Leviathan is the latest sub-shattering track from New Zealand's global bass behemoths, TRUTH. Released on their own Deep, Dark & Dangerous imprint, the track is the duo's most powerful dubstep banger to date, an iconic encapsulation of what the label stands for and an ode to the mythical sea-beast itself. Lulling you into a false sense of security with a tranquil yet slightly menacing melodic motif, the Leviathan comes out of nowhere - set to destroy all in its path. Scatty hats and auxiliary percussion encapsulate the choppy waters after the attack, as the deep bass continues to rumble. Maybe have a think next time you're considering going out to sea? Don't say you weren't warned.
There can be no doubt about it, when it comes to making speakers move, Leo Cap is something of a scientist; lurking around the Deep, Dark & Dangerous realms. Following a number of EPs and track features on DDD, 'Underground Business' is his debut full-length album. 11 slices of audio genius, the kind of tracks that make you question your very sanity when they drop. Leo Cap's style is well represented across this release, and as an album is the perfect showcase of his sound. One which is known for pushing the physical boundaries to which you can exert sound systems and speakers. Literally pushing insane amounts of air when these basslines drop. The album tells the story of Leo Cap the artist, creating beautiful things only to destroy and break them. Not only is the music a parallel for his life, it is also a form of armour, pieces collected from here and there. A protection from a paranoid existence in the dark and murky underground. This music is his kind of Undergound Business, 'it's really deep, it's really dark and it's really f**king dangerous man'. All the demons, all the darkness, and also all the fun. But there are no mistakes, this is how things are meant to be, life is is both dark and light, with music as it's abstraction. You can turn on the music and feel these things, this is real, this is Underground Business.
Strap in for another extra-terrestrial excursion as Shlump makes his much anticipated return to Deep, Dark & Dangerous following up the extremely successful Flying Saucer, Shaolin Shadowboxing and of course Alien Technology. Prepare to be sucked into the bass vortex with 'Zero Gravity', his brand new single. For this track you're going to want to stand front and centre before a massive bass-stack as the low end will literally suck the gravity out of the room, leaving you floating in a galaxy of interstellar bass waves. But beware, systems on full alert. because the tune's ridiculous second drop is about to slam you back down to Earth. Bass pressure levels are up, this track goes hard!
Hitting 2024 with a bang is LA's finest Brazilian madman and all round bass connoisseur, Oxossi, who's back on DDD with a two track dubstep special set to cause maximum damage wherever unleashed. 'Absolute weapon' is a term that can be overused in the dubstep scene, but there's no other way of describing lead track BaileX - with its moody intro exploding into a savage drop that is relentless, punishing and hypnotic simultaneously. The producer's trademark hip-hop influenced beats, analogue flavoured synths and exquisite sound design are all encapsulated and executed with consummate skill. Pump Ya Fist is no less infectious, with the sonics stripped back and a more glitchy percussion pattern that paves the way for what is likely the grooviest bassline released on DDD this year. If there's not a coordinated dance move to this tune, we'll be disappointed. Heat your January up with the boi Oxóssi.

Freezing cold and earth shattering in equal measure - LOST is back with ice in his veins on Deep, Dark & Dangerous, delivering a masterclass in dubstep production with his latest creation: Paranoidz EP. Following 2018's DDD debut The General, the Croydon dubstep veteran is showcasing his technical and musical ability on a whole new level with the latest release, flipping from uncomfortable atmospheres, to punishing bass and melodic introspection throughout. Track 1 'Uh Oh' is the soundtrack to the trippiest slow moving nightmare you can imagine. The tune serves up a freezing cold slice of eerie atmospheric oppression, with its sparse mix haunting the listener while simultaneously delivering heat in the sub frequencies - ready to lend its weight when played out on a fat system. Poison Spear moves to a tribal vibe, while being no less haunting - like you're being stalked in the Amazon tribe lusting for blood. Broken then picks up the pieces, a creation of ethereal beauty at 140bpm. Showcasing LOST's depth of musical understanding and technical skill, rather than loading up the subs the producer focuses on intricate melancholic melodic flourishes, dark soundscapes and hypnotic percussion. The release is wrapped up with Paranoidz, with its swag-filled beat slapping you round the chops as its shuffled bass throbs and hi-hats disorientate you into submission. Come take your Paranoidz with LOST, you might regret it.

Khiva's new EP 'Heavenly bodies' speaks to knowing one's nature and the deep understanding that comes from within, the reflections we see in nature, and the collective and individual paths we are on. Lyrically and sonically the EP takes the listener on a trip through dark and subtle beginnings with 'Prophetic Silence', (a sister track to her self-released 'Poetic Violence'), through mountainous earthly testing grounds in 'Ephemeral', acknowledging the gritty and albeit temporary forms our material manifestation can take, catharsis and an eruptive release with 'Rapture', and finally the free floating birds eye view of 'Satellite', where soft vocals and a solid beat represent musically the transcendence that comes from our fusing of all facets, the embodiment of the transcendent. Khiva wrote 'Satellite' after multiple nights staring at the stars and 'Prophetic Silence' later in a time where they seemed very far away, while both instrumental tracks painted earth-side pictures of the journey to harrowing depths: to the surface and back again. This impact is felt and heard in the characteristic heavy bass, powerful drums and ethereal soundscapes Khiva has become known for.
Step into the dark and mysterious world of Basura, the up-and-coming Denver-based dubstep artist, as he unveils his new release, 'The Grouch.' This four-track EP takes listeners on a spine-chilling journey through haunting soundscapes and bass-heavy beats. Kicking things off the title track 'The Grouch' pairs Basura's ear for a great vocal sample, with eerie middle eastern strings and a rolling deep bassline. Track two, 'Lose Ur Mind', Basura's collaboration with SEEK is a real ride, with it's brilliantly energetic arp-driven drop making this a set highlight of a track. It's in 'Hide' where Basura's love for horror and suspense shines through, this track produced alongside Wolf'd is a thrilling rollercoaster of eerie synths and sinister drops, reminiscent of a horror movie. Deeper and Darker we go! Finally Parks n Rec strikes the perfect balance between musicality bassweight and creepy tension. Throughout this EP, Basura's gratitude for his creative journey is palpable.
