Combining system shattering futuristic beats with dystopian cerebral wordplay, PAV4N and Truth join forces on one of the biggest collab releases of the year with Brave New World EP - released on Truth's own imprint, Deep, Dark & Dangerous. Across four dynamic tracks, the Foreign Beggars don MC spits fire questioning existential threats to humanity's community spirit, ranging from AI, the hunt for instant gratification and war, permeating Truth's sub flexing synth-heavy productions. The eponymous title track starts as the EP means to go on, with the intro hook chanting 'while awake we're still in the dreamstate' over arpeggiated synths as UK hip hop meets atmospheric deep dubstep, with one of grime's hottest properties Saskilla switching in for a killer verse. Future punk banger Pythons comes in swinging next, with raw techno influences before the 140 drop slaps with PAV4N losing his shit as he fights a pit of serpents. Track three is the ice cold, eerie and razor sharp Online Overdose, as PAV4N dismantles our digital native trend-chasing society with additional production courtesy of New Zealand's fast-rising bass wizard Ashez. We go back to the future with the storming EP closer Pyrex Jackie, as 90s UK rave influences meld with intense dubstep for a weapon that is gonna go off wherever its loaded - with PAV4N's final firing shot 'sound the horn sound the siren, let the truth shake the silence, emancipate the violence'.
Exploding like a tsunami from the depths of the ocean, Leviathan is the latest sub-shattering track from New Zealand's global bass behemoths, TRUTH. Released on their own Deep, Dark & Dangerous imprint, the track is the duo's most powerful dubstep banger to date, an iconic encapsulation of what the label stands for and an ode to the mythical sea-beast itself. Lulling you into a false sense of security with a tranquil yet slightly menacing melodic motif, the Leviathan comes out of nowhere - set to destroy all in its path. Scatty hats and auxiliary percussion encapsulate the choppy waters after the attack, as the deep bass continues to rumble. Maybe have a think next time you're considering going out to sea? Don't say you weren't warned.
