It's a new year and this means more jungle from the Jungle Cakes family. Euphonique & Dazee join forces fusing their love of oldskool jungle through to modern day Drum and bass, bringing you their 'Welcome to the Jungle' album sampler. Euphonique's system-shaking signature has been a key part of the D&B landscape since she first emerged in 2008. Mancunian turned Bristolian she fuses the sounds of both cities releasing rave-ready beats on some of the most respected labels in the scene. Dazee is an original jungle pioneer, with a career spanning three decades; she stays true to her and 90's junglist roots whilst bringing that up-to-date Bristol sound. Both continue to take their art around the world and across the airwaves, and it's no surprise that all 7 of these tracks will leave you wanting more. Track 1 on this sampler is 'Skip De Du Dat'. The subs just keep on rolling and the toppers go crazy on this 90s inspired track. Team this with some classic sounding piano keys and what you get is a great first track that stands the test of time. Track 2 'I Miss U', has another lovely 90's jungle vibe. Starry FX's and deep earthy subs mixed over almost erratic drums and sweet vocal hooks. 'Bam Bam' was a massive hit for DJ Deekline and Ed Solo Ft Yolanda - and the Euphonique and Dazee remix is no exception. This track 3 remix has boomier subs, LFO driven basses and modern day ragga D&B beat with a heavy skank. Track 4 'Idiot Sound' ft 'Killamanjaro' from Euphonique has clean snares and some really heavy jump-up-esque wobs - making this a perfect beat for 'Killamanjaro' to throw his unique style of MCing down to give us that modern take on ragga jungle vibes. Track 5 is 'That's Criminal'. Darkness, wobbles and crazy subs come bounding over high tempo beats with riser FX's and some perfectly timed samples. It'd be criminal not to love this track. Second to last on this sampler is 'Never'. With rolling subs, classic rave synths and a rewind warble effect all sewn in nicely to grimey bassline. Last up is 'Addicted 2 u' from Dazee - with light keys and crisp drums cascading over low subs and basslines creating the perfect backdrop for the sweet vocals used on this track. These guys really know how to put together a sampler, and if these 6 tracks are anything to go by, the latest 'Welcome to the Jungle' album from the pair is going to be an absolute banger. So, get this quick and set the precedent for 2024. For licencing & label enquiries, please contact Martin Flex: martin@hotcakesmusic.com
